Hello all,

I have picked up this link from a website dedicated to Doorstaff.

I would urge you all to sign this petition in support of this worthy cause.

I am tempted to post this link in the 'General' forum since I feel it deserves as much exposure as it can get.

This is the harsh reality and sad reflection of todays society.

I'm not working as a door supervisor but have done so in the past and also currently live very close to the clubland area of Plymouth so i very often come up against many of the severely refreshed clients in the wee small hours as i walk my dog, i'm sick of the broken glasses and bottles that litter the area and the loud p*** artists crawling out of the bars at any time up to and including 6am.
Later licences and glass in bars should be stopped if only under duty of care and health and safety issues.
I have more than enough scars to last me and certainly wouldn't wish to see someone maimed while carrying out their duties.

My name and the name of my friends have been posted. I see this far to often when working the doors. Plastic bottles all the way.
Plastic pint glasses should also be next on the list.

I seem to recall from way back that there was a range of glassware developed specifically for use within the licensed trade that shattered into a million pieces when smashed. Somewhat similar to a car windscreen sort of thing.
Basically, it wasn't possible to smash the glass and leave a pointed shard.

I know it was manufactured on a trial basis but I have no idea why it didn't catch on?
Maybe it was too expensive.

Anyone else remember this stuff?

No problem mate. I have posted it on numerous sites I have associations with and am always keen to raise this issue at any licensed trade meetings/awarding bodies etc, etc.
