Does anyone know how or where legal representation can be obtained for Door Supervisors? We have contacted FEDS (and must I add - they also insisted that we joined) and we have had no response or help from them. |

Hi Gabby,
To the best of my knowledge there is no recognised single body that provides legal representation for Door Staff.
Are you looking for actual representation or just advice?
I am familiar with FEDS and have only heard good things about their association and I believe that the people that run it certainly know their business.
Whilst it is not my place to comment upon why they have been unable to help you, I can only suggest that actually being a member might be a good place to start.
The alternative I would imagine is the same that faces each of us in this industry.......see a solicitor and hope you are eligible for legal aid.
If you are seeking advice only, you might consider giving the Citizens Advice a call. It's a long shot but you have nothing to lose.
Keep us posted on your progress as I'm sure this topic will be of interest to many in this sector.
Best wishes,
Mike. |

I've finally recieved my licence after much deliberation (the SIA lost my application forms- cheers for that!) but now I have it and so if anyone needs a reliable door supervisor north london area just send me a pm.
I would also like to point out that on the SIA website there is a weblink and phone service to grass up unlicenced clampers, but I couldn't find a way of contacting them about unlicenced door supervisors and or venues who are knowingly hiring unlicenced and most likely untrained door supervisors.
I know what could happen if the are grassed up and frankly I would be pleased because the guy who is hiring these people is a complete tit.
What options do I have as a concerned staff member? |

cm......
Please see the posting "Whistleblowing".
Hopefully over a short period of time, the poll results may give you a general feeling amongst your fellow workers as to what action you might take.
