In the fight against terrorism, every frame of CCTV is invaluable. Even the least assuming images can have a potential impact on national security. Vigilance, concentration and attention to detail are key. And that's where you come in.

As a Static Surveillance Officer, your role will be to screen hours of footage. Most of what you see will not appear significant. The challenge is to remain alert for unusual activity, in some cases terrorist-linked, which could have huge ramifications. You'll then communicate your findings to other members of the organisation.

Surveillance experience is not necessary, as training will take place on the job. However you'll possess good interpersonal skills, a basic knowledge of IT and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time. You'll also be equally at home working alone or as part of a team.

Based in Central London, the role involves shifts and may require you to work outside your normal hours so flexibility will be an asset.

It's important to note that opportunities within this team are limited and movement to other areas would require a qualifying test.

Benefits include a generous pension, 25 days' holiday and performance-based salary increases. The Service also has a restaurant, shop, bar and fully equipped gym.

To apply you must be a British Citizen. Due to our recruitment and vetting process, your application may take up to eight months. You must limit those you tell about your application to your partner and/or immediate family.

Click here to view the job and apply online. If you are unable to access the Internet, please call 0845 300 1438 to request an application form. The reference number is JS003. Minicom 020 7406 5790. Your calls may be monitored for training and quality purposes.

Due to anticipated response, we strongly advise you request and return your application as soon as possible.

The Security Service is committed to reflecting both equal opportunities and the society we protect.

A matter of national security.
