A big welcome to our Loss Prevention personnel - why don't you tell us a little about your job?
Perhaps even a few stories of your favourite discovery or arrest? |

I guess he was so embarrassed he popped his cork.
Nice catch Lorraine and welcome to the Guild.
Of course I cannot resist the temptation to say "is that a bottle of plonk down your trousers - or are you just pleased to see me?" |

Glad to see the tone gets lowered immediately!
Have to add to this. Anumber of years ago I was working in Ipswich as a Plain Clothes Security Manager for a department store. We had a very successful town link system and always assisted other stores. Late on a Saturday afternoon one of the shops called for assistance with a runner. They stated that a male had left the shop with alcohol and was running towards my direction. Of course I assisted and made the most beautiful rugby tackle but then the most awful scream came from the guy. I looked down and red was pooring from his trousers, god I panicked.
Yes, you guessed it. The guy had stolen a bottle of red wine and hidden it down the front of his trousers. Luckily just some minor cuts but it took ages for my heart rate to get back to normal! |

Is this the arrest that got caught and was subsequently broadcast on TV? |

Thankfully not. That was at M & S Pantheon on Oxford Street. Showed me doing a Linford Christie up the road opposite the store after a shoplifter, taking him down, him ending up half naked in a fight and then me being dumped on my ass from a punch. Mmm, actually, that might have been more embarrasing. |

I Remember working in Altrincham Woolies and a team of professionals came in & started filling up a large John Lewises sack about £300 of goods Lucly I wastipped off about two people acting suspious. It turned out to be five three women & two men I used the store radio to get help fro other stores & they were all caught. The next day I had to go to the police station and add to my statement as I walked up I saw the group that I had caught the day before. I walked passed them & waited in the police station when one of them came in and was aking me if I liked my job so I told him its like any other job good days & bad days. He said whats a good day I said when I caught you he didnt like that and walked of in a huff. |
