A little bit off the topic but has anyone else had problems with Windows Service Pack 2? I have used my computer for the first time in a number of weeks and it has automatically updated itself with SP2 and what a mess. I now can't access a number of sites I used to. I have tried uninstalling it but that does not now help. Thankfully I have the laptop but as I still have some restricted movement it is not as useful.

There are a number of bugs, though I think Bill Gates is still calling them 'features' with the Windows XP Service Pack2 upgrade.

Most noticable of these problems seem to arise when using internet explorer. Most reported problems can be fixed by going into IE Tools menu and turning the pop-up blocker off.

If you have problems with your favourite sites, check out;
Tools > Internet Options > Privacy
You can click the 'Sites' button to add your favourite site to give it 'trusted' status.

For those using Norton, you will be pleased to know that in Bill's efforts to world domination of his new anti-virus program, you may also discover another annoying bug which keeps telling you there is no anti-virus software configured on your machine, even when you have told windows you are using Norton.

For those of you who do lots of downloading you should be aware that if you download files ending with the double extension of .zip.gz
e.g. myfile.zip.gz
indows likes to rename the last part of the double extension to zip - this myfile.zip.gz becomes myfile.zip.zip and you encounter an error when you try to un-compress the file.
The solution is to rename it back to its original extension.
