hi. ive applied for the prison service and the job is more or less mine, they have contacted all the companys ive worked for and got the infomation back what they need apart from the last company i worked for.if they dont send the info back i dont get the job. can i take legal action if i dont get the position because of them...if this keeps happening i may never work again. |

Hi Crane,
Have you spoken to your last employer?
As far as I know.....but I'm not sure......I don't think your previous employer has any obligation to respond by way of references etc, but you will have proof of your employment with them by way of the tax office.

For some reason, it looks like I missed your initial post as well crane.
Unfortunately, employers are under no obligation, legal or otherwise, to provide references or otherwise confirm/deny you have worked for them.
There are however a number of things you can to support your claim of being employed by a specific employers.
Provide them with pay slips, P60's P45's etc.
You can apply for yout tax contributions from the tax office and also your national health contributions from the Department of Pensions (or whatever they are calling themselves this year).
Contracts of employment and letters of employment confirmation are always handy to keep as well. |
