Well I wish you good luck :)
I did my bit for my fellow officers and I'm well out of it now having retired at the ripe old age of 45.
It has been a long time since I was here on this site and have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that it has gone so quiet but that obviously means all is well with the private security industry LMAO ;)

I now work in a different town (Dover) we have storenet radio. the site has 6 stores only 2 have radios and i am the only Security Officer. My store is open from 0800am to 0800pm . My hours are 1200am till 0800pm as they will only pay for 8hrs cover. In Dover they operate a scheme called Dover Partnership Against Crime. One of the effects of this is that if anyone is caught shoplifting 3 times they are excluded from the premises. Which sound good but yesterday on my way in to work i passed 2 who

I was very suprised about an article that appeared on the TV recently about immigrant workers managing to obtain licences.
How the heck did they manage that?

Are they not supposed to provide proof of identity and their work permits as well as everything else?

The next thing you know, any Tom, Dick or Ahmed will be able to get a licence on the grounds that to refuse them might be considered racially unacceptable.
And people wonder why I couldn't get out of the UK fast enough!

What is the police response to Security Officers in London carrying handcuffs, I know we are not allowed to carry batons, kubotans or any other weapon, we can only protect ourselves with our fists and feet if a fight does start and use resonable force while the bad guy / gal uses whatever force they want and or whatever weapon they want, firearm, knife, bottle, ect.
what is the point in doing a job I love to do when we cannot protect ourselves

I'll never understand it either. Just reading the long list of no-no's is amazing and still nutters get the licence! Originally they were the reason why they come up with this idea and now the SIA makes a mess of it! Maybe the amount of migrant workers who have entered the Security industry recently has also had a affect in keeping the wage rises low.
