A Security Officer was attacked with a hammer when a masked gang raided a Co-op store on 20th March 2006.

Three men struck at the Heart of England store in High Street, Hillmorton, Rugby as the guard made a delivery to a cashpoint at around 7.15am.
Armed with screwdrivers and a hammer, the gang forced their way into the store as the guard worked with a colleague who was standing out-side.
Once inside the shop, the gang forced the security guard on to the floor, before one of the men hit him with a hammer. Although the guard's helmet was knocked off in the attack, he is thought not to have been seriously injured.

After escaping with cash, the offenders got into a dark red Vauxhall, believed to be a Cavalier - driven by a fourth member of the gang - and made off towards Rugby.

Firefighters were later called to a burning vehicle, believed to be the getaway car, in Dean Road, also in Hillmorton, about 10 minutes later.

Witnesses said they saw a man running from the car into a cemetery off Watts Lane at around 7.35am.

The three robbers all wore black tops and either balaclavas or ski masks. All are said to be of medium build and around 5ft 9in tall.

One of the man was wearing white combat trousers and white trainers.

The other two were dressed completely in black. One had black trainers, the other white trainers.
