On 6th August, Cogent Security Solutions and the Guild of British Security Officers co-hosted a CBRN Seminar in Solihull.

We interviewed John Haywood of the Guild who said; “As far as we are aware, this is the first time in the UK that there has been an ‘affordable to all’ seminar on CBRN by authoritative speakers. By authoritative, I mean those front-line individuals who would actually be involved with responding to CBRN incidents within the UK. Given all the press hype some months ago about the imminent threat of a devastating CBRN device being activated in the UK and various companies climbing on the ‘quick buck band wagon’ by offering ridiculously priced advice on CBRN, we thought it important for people to know the true facts regarding threat levels, the types of realistic incidents we might come across and how business’s can help themselves with basic precautions as well as developing their own procedures in tandem with local authorities and the blue light services to minimise risk and comply with Health & Safety legislation. One of our biggest concerns was making sure that no one who wanted to attend was prohibited from doing so on the grounds of cost – we have our sponsors Dedicated Micro’s and Telewest Business to thank for that. The seminar was very well received by all those attending, including representatives from local authorities, security companies, security consultants, security officers, businesses, utility companies, community wardens and all the blue light services to name but a few.
