Scotland was hit by snow showers today, and forecasters have warned that the cold weather looks set to spread south in the next few days.
High pressure over Scandinavia is being blamed for the arrival of the cold air to the British Isles.
A PA Weather Centre spokesman said: The wind will then veer easterly and this is when we may well get some snow. There may be the odd snow shower in north eastern areas on Saturday and possibly in East Anglia and then on Sunday eastern areas of England could get some snow. The veer towards easterly winds will begin late on Sunday and there could well be snow in eastern areas on Monday and Tuesday. These wintery showers could spread to London and south east England.
