There has been some recent debate in the forums as to the intentions and actions of certain local council licensing offices.
To clarify matters, anyone connected with Door supervision should check out the following links:

I think everyone concerned realises that the original dates for license compliance were optomistic to say the least.
With this in mind, the SIA are taking into consideration certain difficulties being encountered.
Below is a quote from the SIA.
"New deadline for pubs, clubs and bars in the South West
Door supervisors in the South West must act now
From 13 September it will be a legal requirement for door supervisors working in the South West to hold a Security Industry Authority (SIA) door supervisor licence.
All local authority door supervisor registration schemes in the South West will cease to be valid from that date.
Door supervisors in the South West have been able to apply for their new SIA national door supervisors licence since
Andy Drane, Deputy Chief Executive of the SIA, said:
“The public in the South West deserve the high level of service provided by SIA licensed door staff who have undergone an identity and criminal records check and reached set levels of training and professional standards.
“Of course, it’s important that door staff in the South West obtain their SIA licences as soon as possible, but when we were alerted to a delay in posting out application packs we acted swiftly and extended the offence date. The SIA is about creating a safer environment for us all when we go to pubs, clubs and bars, we’re not about causing unnecessary disruption to the licensed trade or door security.
“In seven weeks time, after 13 Sept, it will be illegal for unlicensed door staff to work in the South West. Door supervisors, managers and premises licence holders will be strictly liable for any failure to comply with the law.”
---------End quote.
Well, there you have it folks.
"It's life Jim, but not as we know it"
Be safe all.
